Shaykh Shuraim's Deoband Visit.

Al Salamu 'Alaykum.
This was a historic day in Deoband. The Imam of the Ka'ba, Shaikh Abu Ibrahim Sa'ud ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ash-Shuraim visited Darul `Uloom Deoband on 4 March 2012, Sunday. He arrived in Darul `Uloom Deoband via helicopter and landed here around 1 O'clock. Mufti Abul Qasim N`omani presented him with "Words of Thanks" in the grand Jama' Rashid and welcomed him in Deoband. The Imam also addressed the gathering and admired Deoband for its important role in the cause of Islam. He conveyed a message of peace and unity and invited the Muslims to pay attention to Dawah and Tabligh. Maulana Arshad Madani summarized the essence of his speech in Urdu for the common audience.
Later, Imam Shuraim led the Zuhr Salah and lakhs of Muslims offered the prayer behind him. All the streets leading to Darul `Uloom and around were packed with crowds of people gathered to welcome the Imam and to perform Zuhr Salah behind him. Imam Ka'ba Shaikh al-Shuraim had lunch with the `Ulama in Darul `Uloom Guest House and flew back from Deoband at around 3:30 pm.
Abu Ibrahim Sa'ud ibn Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ash-Shuraim An-Najdi Ph.d is one of the Imams and khateebs of the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah. He holds a doctorate (Ph.D) and is a Professor of Sharia and Islamic studies at the Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, and was recently appointed as a Dean and "Specialist Professor in Fiqh" at the University.
He is also known as a researcher in fiqh, a judge, and a writer who has composed many books on aqeedah, fiqh, and Arabic poetry. Due to his position, rank, and love among Muslims, his voice has been widely recorded and is internationally distributed by various mediums.
Last year in March, Shaikh `Abdur Rahman all-Sudais also visited Darul `Uloom and another Saudi scholar, Shaikh `Aidh al-Qarni also visited Deoband and expressed their endorsement to Darul Uloom and its activities.

Who Are The Barelwis (Razakhanis/Quburis)?

Al Salamu 'Alaykum.

A question that frequently crops up among the wider Muslim community is of the identity of the Barelwis. The Deobandis are well-known throughout the Islamic world because they are a scholarly group and their books have carried their identity far and wide. Since the Barelwis are a non-scholarly group, usually operating locally at a sub-intellectual level with no connection to the Qur'an and Sunna, their beliefs and acts are often incomprehensible to the Muslims outside the Indo-Pak region. Mawlana Ilyas Ghuman has written a book on this firqa-e-batilah and put it online for Urdu readers. I hope that an English translation will come up soon.

Found this helpful post on barelwism.wordpress.com:

A new book has been put online by Mawlana Ilyas Ghuman, dealing with the Barelwi sect:

The book consists of 617 pages. It is divided in 10 chapters.

The first chapter deals with the founder of the Barelwi sect: Ahmad Raza Khan and his so-called mastery of the Islamic sciences.

The second chapter(p. 210) mentions the specific beliefs of the Barelwi sect:  1. Knowledge of the Unseen 2. Present and Seeing 3. Mukhtar Kull 4. Nur and Bashar 5. Calling others than Allah for Help.

Third chapter deals with the filthy and offensive beliefs of the Barelwis.

Chapter 4 deals with the teaching of the Barelwis and innovations such as building over graves, putting clothes on graves, kissing the thumbs, performing chaleeswa, performing dua after the funeral prayer etc.

Chapter 5 deals with the shameless stories prevalent in the Barelwi literature.

Chapter 6 deals with the Barelwi views surrounding the 2 holy places.

Chapter 7 deals with Barelwism and their view of the movement for the creation of Pakistan.

Chapter 8 deals with the takfir of Muslims by Barelwi scholars. Takfir of the scholars of Deoband, Nadwa, Khilafat movement etc.

Chapter 9  deals with the views of scholars about Barelwism and mentions the quotes about Barelwis being in favour of the British.

Chapter 10 states the list of those books written against the Barelwi sect. Books written by Ml. Chandpuri, Ml. Manzur Nu’mani, Ml. Sarfraz Khan, Ml. Khalid Mahmud, Ml. Muhammad Ramazan Nu’mani and others.

Tomb Worshipers Say: Don't Vote For Deobandis.

Al Salamu 'Alaykum.

Elections in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh are around the corner. Muslims constitute 18% of the population of UP and are a very important factor in deciding who will win the elections. All secular political parties are trying to woo the Muslims, particularly the Deobandis. No one is looking at the Quburis. Smarting from this insult, a Barelwi body called the AIUMB (ALL INDIA UNION OF THE MENTALLY BLUNTED) has launched a campaign asking tomb worshipers in the state to vote against Deobandi candidates. The chief of this body is someone called Ashraf Kichkichwee (or whatever) who apparently sits at some Dargah.
No political party in the state has taken the threat of the Ahl Halwa Puri seriously.
